Subject: Bournville v Atherstone match report U7's
Thanks to all those that turned up for the games on Sunday against Atherstone.
Luckily we had a nice refreshing shower to start, this helped moisten the parched pitch and soften the impact for any tumbles during the game! Three Games were played:
Game 1: 8 tries for Bournville - 2 Atherstone.
Some good strong playing was in evidence as we dominated play. Well done to the try scorers:
Daniel Myers 2, George Roberts 1, James or Jonny 1 - (not sure on this one - poor notes) , Morgan 2, Zaki 2.
Thought it was very nice of Atherstones shortest and stockiest of players to run up and hug each of our players when our boys scored.
Game 2: 4 tries for Bournville - 3 Atherstone
A closer match this one, with everything to play for. The boys dug deep and showed great determination - well done lads. Try scorers were:
Daniel Scotney 2, Luke 1, James Pereirah 1.
Game 3: We won but cannot remember too much about this game - Hypothermia setting in! Well done anyway.
Pretty sure Morgan scored a few, Joe - seem to remember him celebrating, Harvey, James P - again, Benedict - was definately celebrating.
Thanks Richard for helping manage the lads whilst I was ref. and Dan was busy coaching those that were taking a break from the matches.

Subject: Match against Kenilworth - Training on the 29th Nov
I thought the boys did really well against Kenilworth. The weather was not great to start but it did not deter the boys from showing their grit and determination. Furthermore, because Kenilworth had such a large squad it permitted us to field two teams at the same time. This hopefully gave the younger ones a real taste of a tough match and will undoubtedly give them something to contemplate. Three games were played in total.
Game 1:
A little disorganised to start but some strong running from Harvey Jevons. The boys struggled to contain Kenilworth in this first game but we were fielding a mixed ability side and trying to switch players to let as many as possible play.
Game2:
A report from Dan highlighted that whilst the score was slightly against us on the middle pitch Bournville showed stoicism in adversity. The battle was led by James and Harvey with the less experienced players giving it their all - chins up guys! From little acorns giant oaks grow.
Game 3:
The team that Richard managed (thanks Richard) showed some strong running and good tagging. The final score was 4 tries to 3 so a good result. All the boys were giving a hundred percent and putting into practice some good core skills.
Point to note - please can the boys remove gloves for games. They are fine for training in but can stop the lads making break point tags on the opposition.
Thanks, Sean

Subject: U7's away at Kenilworth
A really good training session on Sunday thanks to all those that made it!
The U7's are playing Kenilworth RFC away on Sunday 22nd Nov.

U7's and U8's are playing on the pitches by the club house. Older teams will be playing 200 m up the road. Please can you confirm if you are able to make it as I would like to give them an indication on numbers. Everyone who turns up will get a game!
Address: Kenilworth RFC, Glashouse Lane, Kenilworth, CV8 2AJ.

Subject: Bromsgrove match Sunday 1st
Big match against Bromsgrove this coming Sunday. Please can as many as possible turn up as it would be great to get a good side together or possibly two sides going at once. They normally have numbers on their side but the Bournville grit and determination will hopefully prevail once more. Please let me know if you can make it for this Sunday as Bromsgrove would like an indication on numbers Suggest we all meet there for 10.30. Cheers Sean

Subject: Walsall match summary and this weekend Old Eds
Thanks to all those that turned up for last weekends game against Walsall and Dudley. Please relay these messages to your children. The first match against Walsall was a convincing win. It revealed some strong performances both personal and as a team. It was great to see the boys running strongly and passing even before being tagged - well done lads! Some very good tries were scored and some brilliant tagging stopped the opposition in their tracks. I thought everyone played well but it was especially pleasing to see some of the younger players getting stuck in and really going for it - you younger boys did Bournville RFC proud. The year two players all seem to have grasped the essential elements of strong running and looking for the gaps to run for whilst keeping composed enough to relay a pass back to a team mate when their way was blocked - fantastic work boys! The second game was against Dudley, a team that turned out to be evenly skilled and determined in comparison to Bournville. Our boys dug deep and managed to secure a draw. This was an excellent achievement as we continued to swap the players around to ensure that as many children as possible experienced the excitement of the game. I was very proud of you guys. Thanks to Mike Grice and Neil Finnigan who assisted with keeping the rest of the boys constructively busy whilst matches were played. This Sunday we are playing Solihull Old Eds in a joint U7 and U8's game but we will hopefully squeeze in some coaching and internal games. Address as below suggest we all meet straight there for 10.30 and as the marathon is on can we allow plenty of time for getting there. Click here for details about Solihull Old Eds RFC. See you next weekend.

Subject: Bournville U7's away Match against Walsall
It has been a great start to this season and I am very glad to see old and new players getting stuck in and having fun! As you know we have a match next Sunday 4th October. We are playing Walsall RFC. Click here for details. We normally meet at Rowheath on match days at 9.45 am and drive to the other team's rugby club. There is possibly an issue with doing that on Sunday 4th as there might be a large Rowheath running club meeting which would make this difficult. In the event of us not being able to meet at Rowheath as normal can I suggest we meet at Sainsbury's Selly-Oak car park near the recycle bins. Or if it is easier you can go straight to Walsall RFC but please be there by 10.30 if possible.
Hope to see you all next Sunday. Sean.

Subject: Bournville U13 v Yardley and District U13
Bournville welcomed Yardley and District to Rowheath for our first game of the season. What we were about to witness on this sunny Sunday morning was nothing short of a dominant display in all areas of the pitch.
The game started well with a first minute try by Callum converted by John, 7-0, four minutes in and Jake got pushed over the line giving us a 12-0 lead. Seven minutes and disaster strikes, as Yardley score and convert to make the score 12-7.
Kallum makes a good run to score in the ninth minute, converted by John 19-7. One minute later and Callum scores his second try converted by John 26-7. Seventeenth minute and Captain for the day Damon scores and John converts to make the score 33-7. Kallum then scores his second try converted again by John 40-7, and then in the dying seconds of the first half Anthony goes over the line and John converts yet another, half time score 47-7 to Bournville.
Second half resumes Jake runs over for his second try converted by Isaac 54-7, two minutes later and a run from his own half sees Zak score and Isaac converting 61-7. Kallum then from a powerful scrum scores his hat-trick try to make the score 66-7. Not to be out done Callum dances past a host of players from his own half to score his third try with eleven minutes to go, Isaac converts 73-7.
Seven minutes left and Damon scores his second try 78-7, and the icing on the cake with Callum's fourth try converted by John in the dying seconds of the game making the final score Bournville 85 Yardley and District 7.
Congratulations to the Coaching Team seeing their hard work being transferred onto the pitch and to the parents who got the players to Rowheath on time.
