Who to Contact

To join in all you have to do is step onto playing fields. Double-check the fixtures page to pick a week when the teams are training or in a home game. Just ask for your coach and you will be pointed in the direction. Have a look at the contacts page to see who you a looking for and the training page for an idea of where you should be heading.

Please feel free to phone your coach or the team manager for further details.

Bournville RFC Youth section is run by parents just like yours, many hands make light work and we would be delighted to accept any willing volunteers. If you are interested in helping please contact your team manager or coach.

One responsible adult must be in attendance full time unless otherwise arranged for another responsible adult to take charge with the parent's prior consent. The coach or manager cannot be responsible should you need urgent attention or for other reasons. This is mandatory in order to comply with RFU continuum, child welfare and club Insurance. Going for a drink or toilet break are of course acceptable provided someone is entrusted to supervise you in your parents absence.

Forms

The first thing you should do is ensure that the club have your correct details. Your team manager or coach needs to have your full name, parents name and contact number.

Your coach will also advise you to fill out an RFU registration form for new/unregistered players. Fill in the completed form and return it to the team manager or coach. Completed forms are then registered with the Rugby Football Union by the club Registrar, Karen Jordan, who will advise your coach of your RFU registration number.

Kit and what to wear

For training you should wear warm and comfortable clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day. Shorts, rugby shirt, jumper, tracksuit bottoms, trainers or boots are all acceptable. However you clothing should not have any zips. For matches you should wear a rugby shirt, shorts, socks and boots in the clubs colours. If it is cold a thermal long sleeved vest is best. These can be purchased online from the club shop.

All players should come ready for the weather conditions that happen during the winter months. If you are too cold you are unlikely to enjoy yourself and will find it hard to enjoy the rugby. If it is freezing, three layers are best starting with a thermal vest, then a thin long sleeve top with your rugby shirt on top.

Rugby Gloves

Rugby gloves have no safety issues attached so this is purely optional. Although woolly gloves are not allowed as they are slippery. If is wet and cold then it is better to avoid gloves because cold wet gloves are worse than no gloves at all.

What to bring for training/matches

Firstly you require a parent or a responsible adult. You may also need a drink, something warm to wear while you are not playing, a change of clothing if weather looks like it might rain, a small snack for the end of the game.

Boots and gum shield

Futher details about gum shields, boots and other equipment are available on the game development page.

Club kit

On Sundays at Rowheath you can catch the Kit Manager, Carlie Champken, if you are in need of kit. Your coach will point you in the right direction so just ask. Kit is available for new/old players and parents.

Bournville RFC Juniors recommends recycling kit to younger players so please try to give tops and boots back to the club so it is available to new players.

Fees

Fees are £35 for each player for the year. For two players the same family £60 and no family paying more than £70 in total if there are more than two children at the club. Subs should be paid directly to your team manager who will ensure the payment is passed onto the treasurer. Cheques should be made payable to Bournville Rugby Club Juniors - please write the players name on the back of the cheque.

The money from subscriptions goes towards a variety of things including; Club equipment, Christmas party, players meals during fixtures, coach education and hire of facilities. You should give completed membership forms and payment to the players team manager who will then process it appropriately.

New players get 4 weeks introduction before payment is due, although registration forms need to be signed and returned immediately. Previous players will be expected to get forms and payment to team managers within the registration period of the new season.
